Workforce Strategies: Approaches in South Australia
In South Australia, strategic approaches to workforce planning and development are, and have been, guided by several key documents which also lay the foundation for planned action into the future.
Skills for All
Skills for All : The strategic direction for vocational education and training in South Australia 2011-2014, was launched in February 2011.
Skills for All will modernise and revitalise the VET system to ensure South Australia has the skills for future growth in existing, new and emerging industries. It will give all South Australians a passport to world class skills through a government-funded training subsidy and, for those who need it, plenty of support along their path to successful completion. A renewed partnership with industry will ensure a stronger connection between training and jobs, and a demand-driven system will enable students to select the training provider of their choice.

Skills for Jobs
Skills for Jobs: Priorities for Developing South Australia's Workforce, has been developed by South Australia's Training and Skills Commission as its first Five Year Plan for Skills and Workforce Development, a key element of the state government’s Skills Strategy for South Australia's Future: New Ways, New Engagement strategy.
The Plan outlines areas in which the state needs to invest to maximise training and create sustainable employment opportunities, and identifies three key challenges to meet skills needs.
The Plan was updated in late 2010 to reflect the changing priorities of industry in South Australia and what is required to meet those priorities over the next five years.

Review of Skills and Workforce Development in South Australia
The Review of Skills and Workforce Development in South Australia: The Challenge for the Next Decade, was prepared in 2008 by Dr Michael Keating from the Economic Development Board with support from the Departments of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology (DFEEST) and Trade and Economic Development (DTED).
The review considered the capacity and capability of South Australia's workforce to respond to anticipated economic opportunities and informs a wide range of current and future workforce development activities by government.
