Skills for environmental sustainability are underpinned by several national and state agreements and strategies.
Workforce planning and new skills strategies will position South Australia to transition successfully to a low-carbon, more sustainable economy.
Environmental sustainability, CleanTech and skills
Australia’s ability to transition to a low carbon, more sustainable economy will require significant mobilisation of skills to support the development and deployment of new and emerging clean technologies and services (increasingly referred to as CleanTech).
The CleanTech concept encompasses a diverse range of products and services that are inherently designed to provide superior performance at lower costs, greatly reduce or eliminate negative ecological impact and / or improve the productive and responsible use of resources.
This area of work is developing rapidly. As a first step the following (working) documents provide a current overview of CleanTech skills and workforce development in South Australia:

CleanTech Skills Forum
The Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology (DFEEST) and Australian CleanTech jointly hosted a CleanTech Skills Forum in November 2009 to examine workforce skills issues for future clean technology industry scenarios in South Australia.
