Data presented are trend estimates derived by the Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology (DFEEST). The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) does not publish trend labour force data at a disaggregated level, therefore DFEEST has used the ABS methodology to produce trend labour force data for young people. As a result, the data presented here is not comparable to previous data. Trended data provides a more reliable indication of long-term trends by smoothing extreme estimates.
