Workforce Planning and Policy Directorate
The Workforce Planning and Policy Directorate (WPPD), contributes to DFEEST's engagement with industry, learning providers and the community to support the State’s workforce planning system.
The role of WPPD is to support the State's workforce policy and planning system by developing and promoting well researched, fully consulted workforce information, policy positions and strategy options which, when implemented, will enhance South Australia’s efforts to build its workforce capacity. The Directorate also supports the State's engagement in national policy and strategies to reach productivity and participation targets.
WPPD also supports the Training and Skills Commission in developing South Australia's workforce. WPPD builds better workforce planning, development and participation through effective engagement with stakeholders and active communication of relevant information, plans and policies.
In 2010 WPPD has several key priorities to lead DFEEST’s work in planning for skills and jobs:
- Planning for skills and jobs to build a skilled workforce to support South Australia's growth
- Planning for skills and jobs to enable businesses to attract, train and retain staff with the right skills to increase efficiency, productivity and profits
- Planning for skills and jobs to help individuals connect to pathways and make informed choices about their careers and increase their participation in learning, work and the community
- Planning for skills and jobs shapes the education and training system to meet future skills needs.
